Hello, and welcome. I'm Jasmine, the writer behind iladish.com. This is where I collect the stories worth slowing down for — the ones about family, friendship, second chances, and the small moments that turn out to matter more than we expected. My aim is simple: to give you something to read that stays with you after you close the tab.
I don't think a story needs a twist on every page to be worth your time. The ones that have stayed with me were usually quiet — a conversation that arrived at the right moment, a kindness from a stranger, a decision someone made when nobody was watching. Those stories taught me that what we really look for on the page is recognition: the feeling that someone else has been here too, and came through it.
What You'll Find Here
Every story on Iladish falls into one of four collections:
- Family Stories — parents and children, siblings, in-laws, and the complicated love that holds them together
- Animal Stories — rescues, reunions, and the unlikely bonds between people and the animals who choose them
- Drama Stories — turning points, secrets that surface, and the moments that split a life into before and after
- Life Stories — starting over, quiet courage, and the ordinary days that turn out to be the important ones
The categories sit in the menu so you can go straight to the mood you're in, or wander until something catches your eye.
How I Write
Whatever the subject, I try to hold to the same standards on every piece:
- Honest emotion — feelings earned by the story, never manufactured for effect
- A strong opening — you should know within a paragraph whether you want to stay
- Respect for the people in the story — details are changed where privacy calls for it
- An ending that means something — not always happy, but always worth arriving at
Some pieces come from real experiences shared with me. Others are fiction built from the kinds of things that happen to all of us. Either way, the goal is the same: a story you'll want to send to someone before you've even finished it.
How This Site Started
It began with listening. I grew up around people who told stories at the kitchen table — the same ones, year after year, polished a little more each time — and I became the one who remembered them. Later I noticed I was doing it everywhere: on long journeys, in waiting rooms, with people I'd only just met. I'd walk away with a story I couldn't stop thinking about.
The first time someone told me that something I'd written had helped them through a hard week, I understood what all that listening was for. Stories aren't decoration. They're how we tell each other that the thing we're going through has been survived before.
Iladish grew out of that: somewhere to write these stories down properly, so they don't stop at the kitchen table.
